Rule 184
Rescue of police personnel

(1) No police officer shall be prosecuted for any official work performed by him in accordance with the Act or this regulation or any other prevailing law without submitting the procedure as per sub-rule (2).
(2) According to sub-rule (1), the permission of the authority should be obtained in case of criminal case and in case of civil case the following procedure should be followed:
(a) If the cause of action and the heirs of the plaintiff, the name and address of such heirs have been submitted in writing to the authority or the concerned police or registered and sent by post and a copy of the same has been submitted to the Government of Nepal for more than two months, and
(b) The case has been filed within three months of the cause of action.
(3) No policeman can be tried against him without the approval of the Government of Nepal even after the termination of his tenure in relation to the work done in the course of the duty of his position.
(4) If approval is received from the government of Nepal to prosecute the case according to sub-rule (3), the government of Nepal will defend him.
